What does designing a brand identity and making a brand book at Denkploeg mean?

Denkploeg reads your brand book, PDF or website and turns it into a brand profile with colours, fonts, logo and rules, plus a brand guide. Everything you make afterwards is checked against that profile. It does not replace a designer for a new brand: it records an existing brand and protects it.

What it does in short
A brand profile from your brand book or site, with colours, fonts, logo and rules, a brand guide, and a check on whether a design fits the brand.
What it does not do
A scanned document without a text layer cannot be read as text. You see what is missing and fill it in.
Who is this for?
Companies with a brand they want to record and protect in everything they make.

From €19 per month, excl. VAT

How to make a brand book, in three steps

Read in, choose what you keep and sign: after that they are brand rules.

  1. Read in your brand

Choose New brand and give your brand book or site.

  2. Choose what you keep

You see the proposal next to the current colours, fonts, logos and tone, and choose per part.

  3. Sign the profile

After your signature they are brand rules.

Simplified examples.

What it looks like

Your brand, laid down in one book that every studio reads. The brand book of the Kasbloei nursery builds itself page by page: first the logo, then the logo pack with four variants, the clear space and the smallest size, the colours with name, values and contrast, the typefaces for headings and text, and the brand in use on a website, a social post, a story and a business card. Then adopting it waits for your signature, and from that moment all studios read this brand. This is an example with a made-up nursery: nothing is really adopted.

Adopt brand book 1.0

After signing, these studios read the brand book of Kasbloei. What they already made stays.

An example with the demo brand Kasbloei.

Every studio reads the same brand

A brand profile that all studios read from, so an ad, a post and a website look the same.

Saving makes a new draft version and you can bring back an earlier version. The active version changes only after you sign.

A simplified example with the brand Kasbloei.

What you get

Four things that make your brand book usable straight away.

  • Reading in what you already have

Upload a PDF or DOCX, or give a site with a logo.

  • A brand guide with rules

A landscape document with colours, fonts, logo page and Do and Don't.

  • A design check

Check a document, website or Figma frame against the brand: colour, fonts, alignment, contrast and space around the logo, with a scorecard.

  • Versions that are kept

Saving creates a new draft version.

Why Denkploeg

A brand book at Denkploeg is a profile that all studios read and check against, not just a document. You import it from a site or PDF and choose what you take over.

Source and reference date: Denkploeg (app.denkploeg.nl/huisstijl-ontwerpen); Canva (www.canva.com/nl_nl/pro/merkmateriaal/); Frontify (www.frontify.com/en/pricing/); Photoroom (www.photoroom.com/pricing) ().

Amounts are in the currency of the source and are not converted. Open means we could not establish it on that page, not that it is missing. Whether VAT is in an amount, we only say when the source says so. Is something wrong, or out of date? Let us know.

Good to know

The questions every business owner asks before he has his brand recorded.

What is in a brand book?

Colours, fonts, logos and their use, tone, rules, values and audience. With us that becomes a brand profile that all studios read, with a brand guide as a document.

Can I upload my logo?

Yes. You provide a logo when reading in a site or add it to the brand. Files are checked on their bytes and not on their name.

How does the system know which colours I use?

It reads them from your brand book or site and proposes them. You choose per part what to keep; nothing is overwritten without your choice.

Does it work for multiple brands?

Yes. You have your own brand and a brand per client. A client brand never colours the interface and never ends up in your own brand.

What does a brand profile cost?

Brand Studio is part of a package. The current price is under 'What a brand profile costs' on this page, from our price list.

What is the difference between a brand identity and a brand book?

A brand identity is how your brand looks: colours, fonts, logo and tone. A brand book is the document that records it. Denkploeg reads the brand book, records the identity as a brand profile and checks what you make against it.

Honest about what the brand profile does not do

What we do not do:

  • A scanned document without a text layer cannot be read as text. You see what is missing and fill it in.
  • The check measures what is measurable, such as contrast and logo space. Whether something is beautiful, it does not judge.
  • Not a replacement for a designer for a new brand. Recording and guarding an existing brand is what this is strong at.
  • A logo or font you may not use does not become usable because it is in the profile.

Start with one question

No card. You see the proposal yourself and choose what to keep.
