Voice-over with ElevenLabs

From script to voice-over and subtitles, with your own key, costs up front and an explanation of the licence.

DocumentationVoice-over with ElevenLabs

In the Video Studio you turn a script into spoken audio. Pick a voice, listen to the result and add it to your edit. The word timings also produce subtitles. You use your own ElevenLabs account and pay that provider yourself.

Setting up your key

Put your ElevenLabs API key under the AI keys of your workspace or agency. A workspace key takes precedence over an agency key. With the key you can load your subscription, usage and available credits. The key stays stored encrypted and is not included in your video or job data.

For client material the policy for providers that may train on input also applies. ElevenLabs offers a setting under Terms and privacy > Data use to turn off model improvement with new input. Your administrator decides whether use is allowed within your workspace.

From script to edit

  1. Open Voice-over on your video. Type a script or take over the available text from the edit.
  2. Load the voices and costs. Choose Dutch or English, a voice, speed and stability. The voice sample is an existing sample from the provider.
  3. Check the estimate and your allowance. For paid work, someone with spending permission has to confirm the cost. A request via MCP waits for human approval.
  4. Have the voice-over created. The job runs in the background. After that you can listen to the audio and add it to the edit.
  5. Check the subtitles and timing. You can also download the subtitles as SRT. The audio track is mixed with your video when rendering.

A brand voice is a proposal first. Only after confirmation by someone with brand permission does that voice become the default for that brand profile.

Costs and free allowance

The estimate shows money and credits separately. The multilingual model used charges one credit per character. On 8 October 2026 the official API pricing page lists $0.08 per 1,000 characters for v2 Multilingual. A script of 1,000 characters therefore has a reference estimate of $0.08 and uses 1,000 credits. Your own subscription, tax and any contract terms determine your final bill.

Voices with a custom rate set by the voice creator are not offered. Denkploeg checks again just before creating whether the chosen voice is available without such a surcharge. That keeps the estimate in line with the chosen voice type.

The free plan normally has 10,000 credits per month. Denkploeg reads your current usage and limit, so that the message about available allowance matches your account. For paid work the existing daily and monthly caps apply. Subtitles come from the timecodes of the same generation; no extra transcription is ordered for them.

Free audio and commercial use

Free plan: not for commercial use, attribution required. When you publish audio generated on the free plan, ElevenLabs requires elevenlabs.io or 11.ai to be in the title. A later paid subscription does not make audio generated earlier on the free plan commercially usable after all. See the publication terms.

Denkploeg stores the licence status when the audio is created. By default, export without a valid commercial licence is blocked, even when the audio has been processed into a render. An administrator can set the workspace policy to warn. That setting does not change ElevenLabs' rights. Listening to samples and checking subtitles remains possible.

This feature creates voice-overs with existing voices. Cloning voices and dubbing videos into other languages are outside its scope.
