The Usage screen (/usage, formerly Costs) shows where everything that costs something goes: tokens from the models, credits for images and video, characters for a voice, and time on a test environment. You see the amount, what you have left and every single item. You need the see costs permission; without it the screen does not exist for you. The address /costs keeps working and brings you here.
The simple view
At the top are four figures.
- Spent this month: everything that cost money. If part of it is estimated, that is shown below.
- Left within the cap: the monthly cap minus what was spent. Your agency's cap or the platform's cap can be full sooner; if so, that is stated.
- Expected end of month: this month's pace extended. A guess, and before the third day of the month we say nothing.
- On subscription: calls on the Claude or Codex subscription. Those cost nothing per question.
Below that is the trend per day, per provider, and how it is split per provider, per studio and per key or subscription. All amounts are in euros. We convert dollars with the rate shown on the screen, with its source and date.
Subscription or API
This difference is shown with every source, because an amount of zero means something different on a subscription than on an API.
| Subscription | API or credits | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per question | no | yes |
| Counts toward the monthly cap | no | yes |
| What counts | the number of calls and tokens, against a limit of the provider | the amount |
| What you see here | how much we sent through it | what it cost and what is left |
Who is on a subscription is decided by the agency or the workspace (see Agency and workspaces). That does not change on this screen. We cannot read how full a subscription is at the provider; we show what we sent through it, not a percentage.
Denkploeg credits
One credit is one euro cent, excluding VAT, for all AI: text, images, video and voice. Ordinary work never costs credits; an AI action always costs at least one.
- Credit balance: what you have, what expires first and your batches in the order in which they are used. Monthly credits from your plan expire at the end of the period; purchased credits are valid for 24 months, and every new purchase extends everything you have bought.
- In credits: per kind of work what it cost in credits, next to the cost price in euros. A +? means some lines had no credit price (no exchange rate or tariff, or from before the measurement).
- Deduction: when AI runs on Denkploeg's key (so not on your own key), we set the price aside before each action and settle afterwards on what it really cost, at least 1 credit. What is left over comes back to you. If an action fails, it costs nothing. For AI text the price up front is a ceiling (the expected price times 1.3). When your credits run out, nothing starts and you see the Buy more button; with automatic top-up on, we top up and you can try again shortly. Separate images and video through your own OpenArt or Higgsfield account cost no credits.
- Your balance in the top bar: in the portal and in every studio your credit balance is at the top right (for anyone who may see costs). A tap shows what expires first and the Buy more button. After every AI action the number counts along and you briefly see what it cost. For image actions in Brand Studio the price in credits is next to the button.
- Notifications: at 50, 80 and 100 percent of the credits for your period (the monthly credits or the trial) you get a notification in the bell, with the way to buy more.
- Price per action: the price of an AI action follows what the provider charges us. Denkploeg checks that every day. A price can therefore go up, never silently down: a person decides on a decrease. The price is always next to the button, and what is already reserved for work in progress does not change. If a price rises sharply, an action can be temporarily unavailable for new workspaces while we review it. If the price of an action rises by more than 25 percent within one calendar month, we tell you in the app and you can cancel within 30 days, with a refund of the prepaid part and your unused topped-up credits (terms, Article 11a).
Measured, calculated or estimated
A correction to model pricing applies to new calculations and estimates. Previously recorded charges, spent credits and active reservations stay unchanged. A lower purchase price reduces an existing selling price in credits only after approval. This pricing correction does not change existing price proposals.
Every item has one of three words.
- Measured: the provider itself said how much was used, or it is a subscription.
- Calculated: what was used is measured, the amount is that times the price list. Anthropic and OpenAI only send tokens and no amount, so every euro on a model call is calculated this way.
- Estimated: an estimate in advance, or a price we did not know and estimated at the most expensive plan. The real cost may differ.
Linked sources
Per source you see whether it is set up, whether it is used and for what, and what is left: the balance at OpenArt, the number of calls on a subscription, and which key applies to an API (the workspace's, the agency's or Denkploeg's). You never see a key itself here.
Log and export
The log shows every item, newest first, with what happened, in which studio, who or which agent did it, which provider and key, how much and what it cost. You filter on period, studio, provider, key or subscription, measured or estimated, and kind of cost. The address keeps your filters, so you can share a filtered list.
With CSV and JSON you download all items of the period with the same filters, even if they do not fit on one page. A period can be at most a year. For Excel on a Dutch machine add &scheiding=puntkomma to the address: that puts a semicolon between the columns and a comma in the amounts. Every export goes into the audit trail, without content, with who did it and which period.
The button in the bar
At the top right of the bar is a button with what you have left, or otherwise what was spent this month. Open it and you see the cap, which sources are linked and what the last five items were, with a link to this screen. It is in the portal and in the Creative Studio, and only for those who may see costs.
The amount next to a button
Where a button costs money, a small label sits next to it, such as "≈ 12 credits" or "≈ € 0.04". With the mouse, the keyboard or a tap you see:
- roughly how much it is;
- which provider it goes to;
- what it is paid with: a key of the workspace, of the agency or of Denkploeg, or a subscription;
- why it is that much, and that it is an estimate.
If it says "subscription, no cost", it runs on a subscription. The real cost is on this screen afterwards.
Usage per brand
A workspace can have more than one brand: its own brand and client brands. Every item on this page carries the brand the work was for. At the top is the Per brand block, and the log and the export have a Brand column. The brand filter shows one brand, or only No brand.
No brand means: the work belonged to no brand, or the brand was not known. Nothing is guessed. Items from before this feature only have a brand when that could be derived with certainty, for example through the campaign an image belonged to. A question in the conversation with the director gets the brand you last chose in a studio. An agency sees costs per client and per brand on the agency screen.
What a question to the director costs
Below the input field is an estimate beforehand, for example ≈ € 0.03 via API key Bakkerij Jansen or ≈ € 0.02 via Claude subscription, no cost per question. The estimate rests on your last turns and stays an estimate. Below every answer is what that turn actually cost: the amount on a key, the word subscription on a subscription. The tooltip names the model, the tokens in and out, the cache, whose key it was and whether the amount is measured, calculated or estimated.
Model and limits
Model choice, monthly cap and emergency stop are at the bottom of Usage. Only people allowed to control the model can change these. You set the workspace's monthly cap yourself: enter an amount in dollars under Monthly cap and choose Save settings; empty means no cap of its own. If your workspace belongs to an agency, the agency cap applies as well (50 euros per month by default, for all the agency's workspaces together) and your own cap cannot go above it. Image and video models show the last retrieved balance, retrieval time and the provider's usage terms. Manage keys and connections under Connections > AI models. Language, currency and workspace name stay under Settings.
Buying credits, top-up and invoices
Owners and administrators of the workspace see three blocks at the bottom of Usage. Payments go through Mollie; the invoice comes from Moneybird.
- Country. For now you check out from the Netherlands. You enter your country, email address and billing address; your Chamber of Commerce or VAT number is required, because Denkploeg only supplies businesses (the company name is optional). You pay with iDEAL or a card.
- Buy credits. Choose a bundle: 1,000 credits for 10 euros, 2,550 for 25, 5,150 for 50, 10,500 for 100, 26,750 for 250 or 55,000 for 500 euros (excluding VAT). For a different amount, choose Other amount in the drawer: whole euros from 5 up to and including 500, with no bonus (one euro is 100 credits). The same limits apply to your own amount. You pay with iDEAL or a card; the 250 and 500 euro bundles only with iDEAL, only after your first paid period and with the six digits from your app (up to and including 100 euros your bank confirms the payment and no code is needed). At most 500 euros at a time, at most 1,000 euros a month, and a new workspace at most 50 euros in its first 30 days. The credits are ready once Mollie confirms the payment, not before.
- VAT. Without a Chamber of Commerce or VAT number you cannot order: Denkploeg only supplies businesses. With a Chamber of Commerce number or a Dutch VAT number we charge 21 percent VAT, in your company's name. With a VAT number from another EU country we check the number with VIES; if it is valid, belongs to the country of your invoice address and is registered in your company's name, the VAT is reverse-charged, and the invoice is made out to the name and address as VIES gives them. If VIES gives no name (Germany, Spain) but the address matches your invoice address, we also reverse-charge. If we cannot check it, or the name does not match your company name, we charge Dutch VAT; you see this in Usage and can reclaim that VAT by contacting us.
- No cooling-off period. Denkploeg only supplies businesses, so the consumer right of withdrawal does not apply (see the terms, article 2). You can always cancel (article 12). The credits can be used right away and bought credits are valid for 24 months.
- Automatic top-up. If your balance drops below the threshold, we buy the chosen bundle on the mandate from your first payment. At most twice a day, never above your monthly maximum (at most 250 euros). Turning it on needs the six digits from your app; turning it off is always possible. If the direct debit fails twice in a row, it turns off; Automatic top-up then says so. If your billing details have no Chamber of Commerce or VAT number, it does not top up: Denkploeg only supplies businesses. Add the number to your billing details.
- Refunded or charged back. If a payment is refunded or charged back, the credits are taken off again and you get a credit note with the invoice. Your balance can then go negative.
- Invoices. Every payment gets an invoice from Moneybird. The list shows date, number, description, amount including VAT, and the status of the payment and of the invoice separately; you open the PDF once the invoice is final. Only owners and administrators see the invoices, and only those of their own workspace. An agency sees the invoices it pays itself in its own workspace.
