Templates to set up clients

How you set up a client in minutes with a template of modules, playbooks and flags, with the starter templates from Denkploeg as a beginning, what never comes along, and what a template does and does not do on an existing client.

DocumentationTemplates to set up clients

Under Templates on Agency (/agency/<your-agency>/templates) you set up a client in minutes. A template is a way of working that you put on a client in one go: which modules are on, which playbooks are ready and which flags belong to it. At the top is an explanation with an example (Webshop with ads), which stays open as long as you have no templates of your own. The screen is for the owner and administrators.

What never comes along

Relations, files, connections, secrets and people never come along, not even in the configuration. A template made from a client only takes over what you as an agency own yourself: the modules that are on for that client, your own flags and your playbooks. Automations do not come along from a client: they contain its text.

Starting with a starter template

The screen is never empty. Denkploeg provides three starter templates: Webshop, Service provider and Local business owner. They are read-only and contain modules and flags. With Make a copy you put one with your agency as a template of your own; after that you can edit it and put it on a client. A flag your agency does not have on itself does not come along in the copy. You make at most one copy of each starter template.

Making, editing and withdrawing a template

Choose Make template, choose a client that works well and you see right away what goes into the template. Then you give it a name and save. If nothing special has been set up in that client, the screen says so and nothing is saved. Each template is a card with its name, version, what is in it and how many clients use it.

A published version never changes. Edit is a new version with another name or fewer parts; clients that were set up with an earlier version do not change. Withdraw takes the template out of use with all its versions and leaves existing clients alone.

A new client

You do not make a new client on this screen but in the New client workspace wizard under Client workspaces. It has three steps: name, Choose a template (or no template) and review. You choose from your own templates and the starter templates from Denkploeg; if you choose a starter template, your agency first makes a copy of it. Playbooks arrive switched off and automations stay off until you switch them on. Within the number of clients of your package you do it yourself. If you are at your package, nothing is created: the owner sees a signature and signs with a code in the agency's own workspace.

A template on an existing client

Choose Apply to a client on a template, choose the client and you see three lists: what will be added, what already exists and stays as it is, and what will be skipped. A template only adds. What the client already has stays as it is, even if your version is different. A module outside the licence is skipped; you change a licence separately. Nothing changes until the owner or an administrator signs the proposal. Under Applied most recently you see what was added, what stayed and what could not be done.
