With the Website with web shop plan you sell from your site. Your products are already in your workspace catalogue; the cart, checkout, stock and orders come on top. You sell, you are the seller: Denkploeg supplies the software and is not a party to the sale, not a payment institution and not liable for missed orders (see article 10a of the terms).
Paying: your own Mollie account
Under Web shop choose Connect with Mollie and sign in to your own Mollie account. Your buyers' money goes directly to that account. We neither receive nor hold money from your buyers and we charge no fee per order or payment. Mollie's own fees (per payment method) are between you and Mollie.
- The buyer pays on the secure Mollie payment page. Card and account details never reach your site or us.
- Our server calculates the amount from the prices in your catalogue. A buyer cannot change it.
- You can revoke the connection at any time, with a code from your app. What is already paid stays; open orders can no longer be completed and expire by themselves.
- Outside production everything runs in Mollie's test mode. A test order carries its own label.
- Only an owner of the workspace can connect or revoke Mollie: your buyers' money goes to that account. If you connect for the first time, or the account changes, the owners get an email. A change of account also raises an alarm with us.
- A trial workspace does not accept payments. Choose your plan first; until then your visitors cannot check out. One exception: the demo, see below.
Trying the demo webshop
The Demo agency (Kasbloei and Ploeter) has a complete webshop to try out, with real Dutch products, variants and prices. Kasbloei sells plants, including the Monstera in four pot sizes; Ploeter sells sports nutrition, including the Whey in flavours and two sizes. Open the site of the demo workspace in Website Studio: under Pages are the category pages and product pages (page type Shop page), and under Webshop you see the products, the stock and what has been released.
- Checkout works in the demo, but only in Mollie's test mode. You never really pay; on Mollie's payment page choose the status you want to see (paid, failed or cancelled). An ordinary trial workspace still cannot check out. If test mode is not switched on, the checkout says that this is a demo webshop without test mode.
- Nothing goes out. Even in the demo there is no confirmation email, and the thank-you page says so (it does not say "we sent a confirmation"). You do see the order and the invoice number under Orders. Under Payments the demo shops state that the checkout runs in Mollie test mode and that there is nothing to connect.
- A VAT rate per item. Both demo shops are on 9 percent by default, with prices including VAT. The two shakers of Ploeter are on 21 percent: that is their own rate. A basket with Whey and a shaker calculates each item with its own rate and shows one VAT amount.
- Prices. The prices come from the demo set and are converted to excluding VAT (as you enter them yourself). At 9 percent not every price including VAT exists: the displayed price can be a cent off (a plant of 13.50 shows as 13.51).
- Stock and orders disappear on refresh. We refresh the Demo agency; what you order in the demo does not stay.
- On the pages of the site the button "In the basket" leads to the checkout, also locally and on http: it is its own link target (Item in the basket), so the check does not demand an https address there.
Products and stock
If you have no shop of your own that we connect, you make your products here. Under Products and stock, choose Add product and fill in a name, a short description, the price, the VAT rate (high, low or zero), an item number (leave it empty and we suggest one), how many you have in stock and an image. You choose the image from your library or upload it there; we check every file. You type the price the way your web shop setting says, with or without VAT, and the screen shows what your buyer pays. Because we store the price without VAT and round the VAT per order line to whole cents, an amount such as 59.95 incl. VAT at 21 percent is not always possible: we then use the nearest amount (59.96) and tell you while you fill it in.
With For sale on, the product is in your shop at once; with it off we keep it without anyone being able to order it. You change a product with Edit on the item. If you change the price, a new price is added and the old one stays, so old orders still add up. The item number stays the same. Delete product takes the product out of your shop; orders that contain it stay as they were.
If you connected a shop (Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento), the products come from there and you edit them there; here you only see them with their stock.
An item is a variant from your catalogue (a product without choices has one). The price is the latest price version and VAT follows your setting. Not every product in your catalogue belongs in the web shop, so a product can only be bought once you release it: under Products and stock switch on In the web shop. You also set how many of each item you have. An item that is not released, has no stock or has a price of zero cannot be bought: unknown counts as sold out.
Limitation: a product currently belongs to your workspace and not yet to one brand or site. If you have several client brands in one workspace, each with a web shop, all sites show and sell the same products. For now, use a web shop only in a workspace with one brand; this is item N-6502 on our list. The management screen also shows the first 200 items.
Putting an item on your site
The web shop is not part of your site's pages by itself. You make the connection yourself: under Products and stock, each item (once released) has a Copy link button. That link puts the item in the visitor's cart and takes him to the cart:
https://<portal>/winkel/<site>/toevoegen?variant=<item>&aantal=1Paste it as the address of a button or link on your site, for example behind "Add to cart". You can leave out aantal (it is 1 then). The visitor checks out on the Denkploeg checkout under your shop name, and returns to your site with the Continue shopping link. A link to an item that is not released, has no stock or is sold out shows the visitor on the cart that it did not work.
As soon as a buyer checks out, we hold the quantities for his payment. The last piece can never be sold twice, not even when two buyers check out at the same time. If the payment is not completed, the stock comes back by itself after twenty minutes.
Orders
Under Orders you see every order with its status: awaiting payment, paid, failed, expired, cancelled or withdrawn. The detail shows the lines as the buyer saw them (name, price and VAT are fixed, even if you change the product later), the invoice number and the payment status. A paid order gets a confirmation by email, and you get a notice at the address you set.
If a stock warning shows, a buyer paid for something that had sold out in the meantime. Deliver it anyway or refund it in your Mollie dashboard.
Refunds and shipping are yours to do; Denkploeg books nothing back on your Mollie account.
If a buyer's bank takes the money back (a chargeback), the order stays paid, gets a Chargeback label with the amount, and the owners get an email. What you do next is your decision, in your Mollie dashboard.
If the confirmation email of a paid order does not arrive, we try again with ever longer pauses. If it still fails after ten attempts you get a notice and you can reach the buyer yourself through the order.
The withdrawal button
If you sell to consumers at a distance, a buyer must be able to withdraw from the agreement with a clear button (article 6:230oa of the Dutch Civil Code). That button is on every page of the checkout and in the confirmation email. The buyer confirms in two clicks and immediately receives an acknowledgement by email with the time. You see the withdrawal on the order.
On your own site, a link Withdraw from a purchase appears in the footer as soon as the Webshop module is on, together with a cart icon in the header. Both go to the checkout; without the Webshop module you do not see them. The terms that Denkploeg drafts for your site then include the part for distance selling (right of withdrawal, model form, delivery, warranty and complaints). Those texts stay a draft until a lawyer has reviewed them.
The content stays yours. Under Settings you write what happens after a withdrawal yourself: where the item must go, how fast you refund. That text is in the confirmation to the buyer. Whether your web shop otherwise meets all distance selling rules (information in advance, return terms, general terms) remains your responsibility.
Keeping data
An order that never became an agreement (failed, expired or cancelled) is kept for 30 days with the buyer's details and anonymised after that: name, email address, phone and address are removed, the lines and amounts stay. Paid orders stay: the administration retention period is seven years, and cleaning up afterwards is up to you and the law; that includes the withdrawal of such an order. Carts without an order are cleaned up a month after they expire.
What is not there yet
An item uses the VAT rate of your web shop setting unless it has its own rate (for example 21 percent in a shop on 9 percent); the order calculates each item with the rate that belongs to it. Setting an own rate is possible through the MCP or Denkploeg's admin routes for now; a field in the screen comes later. A buyer can take at most the quantity per item set in the settings per order (5 by default).
The first version has no shipping costs, discount codes, pdf invoices or partial payments, and delivers to the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. The checkout runs on a Denkploeg page under your shop name; a checkout in the design of your own site follows.
Security
The checkout has a bot check without a puzzle for a human, limits per visitor and per address, and a daily ceiling. Orders contain personal data of your buyers: we keep them only in the order itself and never in logs. We are the processor for that data; see the data processing agreement.
